About Haute Dish
Haute Dish is the arts and literature magazine of Metropolitan State University. It is published once per quarter. We publish submissions from students, alumni, faculty and staff of the university.
Submissions are first sent to the faculty advisor, who removes details regarding the person submitting the material. The item is then forwarded to the managing editor at the submission deadline. The managing editor distributes the submissions to teams of editors, depending on the genre of the piece.
Currently, editing teams are divided into the following genres: prose, poetry, visual arts and multimedia.
The teams vote on which of the pieces should be included in the upcoming edition of Haute Dish. Because all personal data is removed from the submissions, the teams will not bias their votes by friendship associations, gender, race, religion or lack of religion.
It takes two weeks from the submission deadline for the teams to vote. This is necessary, as there are often over 100 pages of prose and poetry submissions.
Next, the Haute Dish staff will meet to discuss the votes of the individual teams. These discussions are lead by the team leaders. When a team's voting is slit, the entire staff will read or observes the piece to vote.
Once all votes are finalized, everyone who submitted a piece to Haute Dish will be contacted and informed of the vote. Those who will be published will be encouraged to include a short biography and photo (optional) for the website and printed version of Haute Dish.
Over the next couple of weeks after the voting, the website will change over to the new edition, and the new pieces will appear, followed by the printed version of Haute Dish.
